How to choose a healthy cat? These four points are very important!

I. Check the Spirit

Firstly, observe the cat’s mental state.

Healthy kittens are usually lively and active, with bright and lively eyes. They are full of curiosity about the surrounding environment and will take the initiative to explore new things.

When you approach it, it may come over to you in a friendly way or observe you alertly, but it won’t seem overly frightened or listless.

Such kittens are well-developed cubs that are physically healthy and curious.

On the contrary, don’t choose kittens that lack spirit or look lethargic, as they usually have poor physical constitutions.

II. Check the Fur

Secondly, examine the condition of the cat’s fur.

The fur of a healthy cat should be smooth, soft and shiny, without obvious hair loss, bald patches or excessive dandruff.

When you choose a cat in a pet store, you can gently stroke the cat’s body with your hand to feel the texture of the fur.

At the same time, you can also take this opportunity to check whether the cat’s skin has any abnormal phenomena such as redness, swelling or parasites.

A kitten with shiny fur and no skin problems is very healthy in its development and is recommended for you to choose.

III. Check the Ears and Eyes

Thirdly, pay attention to the cat’s eyes and ears.

The eyes of a healthy cat are clear and transparent, without excessive eye discharge or secretions, and the area around the corners of the eyes is clean and tidy.

Meanwhile, the inside of the ears should also be clean, with a light pink color, and without any strange smell or a large amount of earwax accumulation.

If the cat’s eyes are red and swollen, keep tearing, or its ears give off an unpleasant smell and have a lot of black or brown earwax, there may be eye or ear diseases.

Never choose such kittens.

IV. Check the Mouth

The fourth point is to examine the cat’s mouth.

You can gently open the cat’s mouth to check whether the gums are pink and moist, whether the teeth are white and neat, and whether there are no ulcers, bad breath or other phenomena in the mouth.

If the cat’s gums are red and swollen and it has serious bad breath, there may be problems such as oral inflammation, which will also affect its overall health and quality of life.

As long as you check these four points and there are no problems, you can safely take it home.

This kitten must be a very healthy and lively little guy!
